GP Retainer
Dr Elizabeth Brown joined us in January 2008 as the GP retainer. Following her schooling in Edinburgh, Liz studied immunology at Edinburgh University and went on to pursue her medical studies at Dundee. Having qualified in 2002, Liz undertook a variety of hospital posts before her GP Registrar year in St Andrews which she completed in 2006. Liz has particular interest in women’s health and medicine for the elderly, and she will be a welcome addition to the practice as a tutor to our medical students. Liz is married to a dentist, and they have an infant daughter. She enjoys the great outdoors – walking, riding and watching Edinburgh Rugby.
GP Registrar
As we are an approved Training Practice, we will always have an additional GP Registrar with us. These are fully trained doctors who are gaining further experience by working in general practice.
From August 2008, our GP Registrar will be Dr Sreekanth Pillai.
Biographies
Dr R P Reid
Born in Glasgow, Dr Reid studied medicine at Dundee University where he met his wife. He has 2 grown up children.
Dr Reid specialises in medical education working 1 day/week at Tayside Centre for General Practice and states that he still enjoys being a GP.
Dr Neil McLeod
Born in Dundee Dr McLeod emigrated to Canada in 1969 where he educated at Oakville, Ontario and McMaster Universtiy, Hamilton, Ontario.
Dr McLeod returned to Dundee Medical School in 1978 and has worked in the practice since 1985 - first year as Registrar.
Neil is married with 3 teenage children. His outside interests include DIY, skiing & golf. He is currently Junior Convenor for Craigie Hill Golf Club. He fights old age spread by attending the gym 2-3 times weekly.
Dr McLeod currently has part time session with Perth & Kinross CHP with interests in Patients with Long Term Conditions, education, and working on projects to improve outpatient services. He is also involved in visiting practices to discuss the General Practice Quality and Outcomes Framework. (The new GP contract).
Dr A M Sneddon
Dr Sneddon was born and brought up in Laggan Bridge in Inverness-shire. She studied at Dundee University and completed her postgraduate training in Perth.
A former registrar with the practice in 1988, she joined as a full-time partner in August 1990. Within the practice she is the clinical lead in Mental Health and Women’s Health. She runs the weekly coil clinic and trains other doctors in Family Planning matters. Dr Sneddon is married with 2 children.
Dr D S Foster
Originally from Loch Lomondside, Dr Foster was educated at school in Glasgow and subsequently Edinburgh University. He started work in the practice in 1996 following a year’s work experience in Australia.
Dr Foster is married with 3 energetic young children with whom he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities. To balance a healthy appetite, he is a member of Perth Masters swimming club and is often seen cycling the surrounding countryside.
Dr E M Matthews
Dr Elaine Matthews grew up and was educated in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. Elaine trained in Dundee University from 1992 to 1997. Her post-graduate training was mostly in PRI.
Dr Matthews special interests in the practice are Minor Surgery, Asthma and COPD.
Elaine is married with 3 young children. She enjoys hillwalking, playing piano, time out with family and eating out in nice restaurants!
